Founding of Hope Haven

When God leads you to a place that He is wanting to shine His light, you have a choice: walk away, or follow in obedience. This was the beginning of Hope Haven. Suffering from abuse as a child, Lisa Ferguson felt led to minister to other girls in similar situations, and started a weekly bible study and play dates with foster girls at a local emergency shelter. God was hearing the cries of these young girls, and soon other volunteers joined the efforts to love on and share Christ with these precious girls. The more time that was spent with the girls, the more God opened our eyes to a desperate need for a home for teenage girls. Seeking God’s direction, a board was formed. We became a 501(c)3 registered non-profit and Hope Haven of East Texas was born.
